Nottingham Forest have been working on signing a forward before the January transfer window slams to a halt but things are looking unlikely at this stage.
That is largely down to the market that the Reds find themselves shopping in. Yoane Wissa was identified as a top target for Forest but Brentford have stood firm on their main striker.
Matheus Cunha was also linked with Forest. However, the Brazilian has signed a new contract that will see a £62.5 million release clause become active during the summer transfer window.
There has been some movement on the outgoing front when it comes to the club. James Ward-Prowse has returned to West Ham after making just 10 appearances for the Reds during his loan spell.

Nottingham Forest receive Callum Hudson-Odoi boost
Given his injury record, Forest fans feared the worst when Callum Hudson-Odoi wasn’t in the matchday squad for the second successive game against Brighton on Saturday.
However, it would appear as though the player is not suffering from a long-term injury issue. That’s because not only has he been seen in Dubai with the squad but he’s also been out on the training pitch with his teammates.
Hudson-Odoi looked to be in good spirits as the club shared some images and footage from the trip where Nuno Espirito Santo is putting his players through some warm weather training.
The 24-year-old is so important to the Reds’ team and he was sorely missed in the recent thrashing at the hands of Bournemouth – although his teammates did manage to bounce back on Saturday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi stats 2024/25
It’s quite astonishing that Forest only paid £3 million to sign Hudson-Odoi. The player has been brilliant for the Reds and perhaps more crucially he’s showcased that he’s capable of putting his final Chelsea chapters behind him.
Hudson-Odoi gets Forest on the counter very quickly. It’s been evident a lot this season that he’s the one winger who is very hard to replace in the Reds’s squad and the sooner he’s back the better.
| Callum Hudson-Odoi stats | Total |
| Appearances | 18 |
| Goals/Assists | 5 |
| Dribbles | 27 |
| Key Passes | 34 |
Hopefully, Forest can ensure this is just a niggle and some warm weather and a bit of extra training in Dubai can see him get some minutes under his belt at Exeter in the FA Cup or maybe preserve his fitness for the trip to Fulham the week after.
Hudson-Odoi is a quality player in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. Although no signings are likely to happen today for Forest, it’s extremely positive that the winger is back on the training pitch with a smile on his face.
