Nottingham Forest are reaping the rewards of their impressive recruitment. The Tricky Trees are on course to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Enjoying a fantastic campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest sits third in the table and look like equalling their best-ever finish in the Premier League table, which saw them finish third in the 1994-95 season.

Despite having a modest squad in comparison with the sides around them, huge credit must go to Forest, who are undoubtedly punching above their weight.

And one player in particular has been a constant threat and continues to prove why Evangelos Marinakis invested so much into him.

Frank Clark loving Morgan Gibbs-White impact

Forest’s decision to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves in 2022 for £42.5 million raised eyebrows among both fanbases.

Wolves supporters weren’t pleased their side had sold a player with such good potential to a domestic rival, and Forest fans felt the price they paid was far too high.

Former manager and chairman Frank Clark, who was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement, disagrees though.

The 81-year-old feels Gibbs-White has been a revelation since arriving at the City Ground, and thinks he’s even more industrious in the middle of the pitch than former midfielder Lars Bohinen.

When asked if Gibbs-White has similar traits to Bohinen, Clark said: “Yes. I’ve never thought about it before, but I think Morgan Gibbs [White] is a bit more physical. Lars was a very good player.”

Gibbs-White’s potential record break proves Steve Cooper’s point

Despite his price tag, Gibbs-White has been one of Forest’s most impactful players.

The England international is already close to writing his name in the club’s history books. As things, Gibbs-White is five assists away from equalling Ian Woan’s record 27 assists.

Although Anthony Elanga is also in with a shout with 16 assists, it will likely be Gibbs-White who reaches Woan’s numbers first.

On course to becoming the Reds’ most creative player, and in line with Clark’s praise, Gibbs-White could also be a contender to make it into this year’s Premier League Team of the Season.
