Jamie Carragher has become the butt of jokes among some of the Nottingham Forest fan base this season following some pre-season predictions he made.
Sky Sports football expert Carragher predicted Forest to go down back in August. Without any real substance, he claimed that if you skirt around the plug hole enough times, eventually it swallows you in, backing the Reds for the dreaded drop.
In truth, he wasn’t the only pundit to make such lazy assumptions. Gary Lineker has already apologised to Forest fans after making a similar prediction prior to a ball being kicked in the 2024/25 campaign.
Carragher has been very complimentary about the way Forest have gone about things this season, however. The Reds sit third in the Premier League and under the influence of Nuno Espirito Santo things are looking up.

Jamie Carragher says Morgan Gibbs-White is better than Dominic Szoboszlai
Liverpool might be the runaway leaders in the Premier League table this season but the likes of Forest and Bournemouth being in the mix for Champions League football next season has really caught the eye.
Carragher has been quizzed on the current Forest team, with Morgan Gibbs-White coming in for some praise with his performances over the last few months during a meteoric rise up the table.
It takes something for Carragher to snub praising one of his beloved Liverpool stars but that’s what he’s done here, suggesting Gibbs-White is arguably better than £60 million signing Dominic Szoboszlai.
He said on The Overlap US: It’s Called Soccer podcast: “I’ve been watching Morgan Gibbs-White now for probably 18 months in the Premier League and I’m convinced he can play for one of the top teams. I look at him in that number 10 position, he’s got goals, he’s got energy, he’s quick, he gets on the ball and I think that lad has got a lot going for him and obviously he’s going to get a move.
“Obviously the point being that he’s one that Thomas Tuchel has got to be looking to get in the England squad. It will be difficult for him to play because of the players that you have in that position but I think, look I say he’s going to play for one of the top teams but Forest are that at the minute, I’m going to get slaughtered here aren’t I, but what I mean is that I could see him, I think he’s as good as Szoboszlai, if not better, in that number 10 position. I think he’s brilliant.”
Morgan Gibbs-White stats 2024/25
Carragher isn’t the first person to praise Morgan Gibbs-White and he certainly won’t be the last. Forest are extremely lucky to have him and it’s been quite something to see him grow as a Premier League player.
Gibbs-White was hailed for his England efforts earlier in the season. So far, he’s made just two outings for the Three Lions and he will hope to impress Tuchel sufficiently to earn more chances in the future.

Forest will be looking to finish the 2024/25 campaign with a flourish. With 14 games to go the Champions League dream is alive with some form of European football looking highly likely to be on the radar for next season.
Gibbs-White leads by example whenever he crosses that white line for Forest. Although he’s technically the vice-captain, it’s not unfair to say that the player is very much the most important player currently in the Forest ranks.
