Nottingham Forest are enjoying a brilliant season in the Premier League and currently occupy third place in the table.

The Reds – led by Nuno Espirito Santo – have transformed their fortunes from last season and with 13 games remaining, relegation certainly won’t be in the thoughts of Forest.

UEFA issued information last week that could help Forest. They claimed that five places could be issued to clubs from England for next year’s Champions League with the coefficient currently going in the Premier League’s favour.

Evangelos Marinakis wanted to sign a new striker in January to bolster the team’s chances of European football. However, the club were frustrated in their efforts and will now go with what they have for the closing stages of the campaign.

The summer will definitely be a busy old time again for Forest. Some players will be targeted to come to the City Ground but for others, it will be time to wave goodbye to the football club.

Forest defender Alex Moreno wanted by Real Betis

It’s been a frustrating few months for the left-back. Moreno was linked with leaving Forest in January but the Reds didn’t want to end the season-long loan with options light in that area of the pitch.

It’s not likely Forest will sign Moreno permanently this summer, however. He’s now 31-years-old and the Reds will likely go in search of a younger left-back who can come in and hold down the position for years to come.

Now, a report from Que, claims that Real Betis are eyeing an emotional reunion with Moreno when the summer transfer window opens, with the player likely to be open to the move.

Betis are in need of a new left-back for next season and Moreno is a player worshipped by the fan base. He’s made 122 appearances for the Seville-based outfit and helped them win the Copa del Rey in 2021/22.

The defender has been a solid loan signing made by Forest. In September he pocketed Mohamed Salah as the Reds won 1-0 at Liverpool to send shockwaves across the Premier League.

He’s proved a capable player whenever he’s played and probably will get more game time when Forest face Ipswich in the FA Cup next week looking for a place in the quarter-final of the competition.

Moreno isn’t a long-term option for Forest, however. He’s currently lost his place in the Premier League to Neco Williams and for now, he’s the second in command at left-back.

A move back to Real Betis is likely to be one that he will favour in the summer. He’s way down the pecking order at Aston Villa and it’s very likely that Moreno will go back to a club where he’s very popular during the next window.
