Murillo was in action last night as Nottingham Forest claimed a valuable 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the City Ground.

The result stopped the rot as far as Forest were concerned. It was a deserved point and on another night the Reds might feel as though they could have nicked all three points late on.

Martin O’Neill was impressed with Forest as he oversaw the match for television coverage. Nuno Espirito Santo has been brilliant for the Reds this season and the perception of Forest as a laughing stock is non-existent these days.

Murillo was hailed by Nikola Milenkovic after this clash with Arsenal. The Serbian was booked early on in the game but together with the Brazilian player, he managed to marshall the rearguard and earn a brilliant clean sheet.

Murillo sends four-word message to £20m Nottingham Forest target

Clearly, the adrenaline was running through the veins of Murillo after the 0-0 draw with Arsenal and he was up late to watch his former club Corinthians in action against Universidad Central.

Murillo watched on as Alberto scored twice in a 3-2 victory and after watching his former teammate in action, he took to Instagram to send him a message of congratulations.

The Forest defender simply said: “I am your fan.”

Alberto has been linked with Forest before and is thought to be available for around £20 million, with interest from European clubs likely to be rife once this season is finished and the transfer window reopens again.

Alberto would be classy Forest signing this summer

Forest have had success in signing players from Corinthians. Murillo has defied the odds to come to the Premier League and not only do well but take the league by storm from a defensive point of view.

He’s been in fine form for close to two seasons at the City Ground now and perhaps his biggest job for the summer will be to convince Alberto that his European future lies at Forest.

There can never be any guarantees when players check in from South America. However, at 23-years-old, Alberto should still improve and with 31 goals from 57 appearances last season, he clearly knows where the net is.

Forest will go in search of a new striker in the summer window. If European football is going to be on the table, the Reds might need two forwards and that could open the door for Murillo’s former teammate to head to Forest.
