Nottingham Forest fans respond to Thomas Tuchel as Morgan Gibbs-White is left out of ‘shocking’ England squad

Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad was announced on Friday, with Nottingham Forest’s standout English talents remarkably missing the cut.

It was recently announced that the England National team would play at the City Ground in June, but Tuchel first had to navigate his first games as Three Lions boss with members of the Forest squad widely expected to play a part.

Forest fans called for Morgan Gibbs-White to make the England squad after his excellent season in the famous Garribaldi, whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi and Elliot Anderson were also thought to be on the cusp of a call-up.

The former Newcastle man’s case was arguably stronger, as Dion Dublin thought Anderson deserved an England place, but regardless of who, it seemed unthinkable that none of Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds would be given a chance for the national team.

Therefore, the disappointment in the Forest fanbase has been universal, with many taking to social media to question Tuchel himself directly.

Nottingham Forest fans rage at Thomas Tuchel’s England squad announcement

Gibbs-White earned an England call-up in October, so he was deemed an almost certain call-up on Friday, but Tuchel decided against the Forest man and his English teammates to the dismay of Reds fans on social media.

One Forest fan said: “Not happy with that, Tuchel!” Another added: “Next time Tuchel is at the City Ground, let’s make it known what we think of that selection.”

Another Forest fan said: “Tuchel cannot be serious,” while one fan added: “Even putting bias aside, that’s a shocking squad.”

More Forest fans chimed in, saying: “Genuinely thought Tuchel was a good appointment but this is just more of the same,” with another saying: “Tuchel clearly going to be a sop to the ‘top 6’ clubs and this squad proves it.”

Morgan Gibbs White will feel especially disappointed by Thomas Tuchel’s England squad

Gibbs White produced an incredible assist against Manchester City in the very same game where Phil Foden was ineffective, which makes it even harder to understand Tuchel’s decision to ignore the Forest talisman.

In that clash at the City Ground, Gibbs-White produced an all-action performance that shone a light on the tremendous form he has been in this season in comparison to Foden.

Gibbs-White completed four more passes into the final third, won three more duels and made four recoveries to Foden’s zero, hugely contributing to Forest earning the three points.

It seems as if Tuchel is going to continue the England tradition of picking players on reputation rather than form, so it begs the question as to just how much more Gibbs-White and his Forest teammates are going to have to show to get their deserved look in for the Three Lions squad.
