Nottingham Forest will be trying desperately to sign new players when the transfer window reopens this summer.
If Champions League football is on the agenda, Forest might be able to shop in the more expensive shops.
Since returning to the Premier League, Forest haven’t been shy when it comes to signing players.
Lessons have been learned along the way, however, and last summer the priority was quality over quantity, which the club managed exceptionally well.
Evangelos Marinakis was desperate to sign a new striker in January but was careful with the spending in the January transfer window.
However, that could all change in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Nottingham Forest ‘dream’ transfer
The Reds are likely to look at a number of players for the forward positions during the summer window.
Viktor Gyokeres has already been linked with Forest and perhaps that short of market is still a little bit above the Reds.
However, Premier League experience would be ideal and it would appear that the dream addition is none other than Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
The Reds are aware that Cunha has a release clause in his current contract and could make an early summer move.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed: “£62.5 million is the release clause for Matheus Cunha and it’s a really interesting one for a number of clubs.
“He’s a dream target for Nottingham Forest but let’s see what happens in terms of European football for them.
“They will probably need that to attract Cunha but they’re going well under Nuno Espirito Santo and overseen by Evangelos Marinakis.”
Matheus Cunha stats 2024/25
Cunha admitted over the weekend that he will be leaving Wolves this summer.
Forest will be placed on red alert, with Arsenal also thought to be keen on signing Cunha when the transfer season gets into full swing.
The 25-year-old will have a number of suitors and it would appear that European football will need to be on the cards for Forest to even thrash out talks with Cunha.
| Matheus Cunha stats 2024/25 | Total |
| Appearances | 34 |
| Goals | 16 |
| Assists | 4 |
| Yellow Cards | 4 |
| Red Cards | 1 |
| Who Scored Rating | 7.31 |
The beauty of landing Cunha would be his ability to play in the Premier League and also the fact he can play anywhere across the front three.
Forest might not fancy paying the full £62.5 million for his services but it would appear that the club will be firmly in the mix for his signature.
