Nottingham Forest would dearly love to make Viktor Gyokeres a marquee summer signing if Champions League football is secured.
At this stage, with Arsenal also linked with the Sporting CP striker, Forest look unlikely to win the competitive race.
Other clubs are keen and it remains to be seen where the in-form talisman ends up playing his trade beyond the summer transfer window.
Forest will look for a striker in the summer with the lack of depth currently highlighted amidst injury problems for Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Gyokeres might be a pipedream but Evangelos Marinakis wanted a striker in the summer and he’s leaving no stone unturned over Gyokeres either.

Forest hatch plan to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Although the striker might have his heart set on a bigger club and a better project, that isn’t going to stop Forest from trying.
Now, Correio da Manha in Portugal claims that Forest might be willing to devise a plan to sign Gyokeres which includes Jota Silva going in the opposite direction.
Forest watched yesterday as Aston Villa beat them 2-1 despite making eight changes, with their starting eleven still boasting a lot of quality.
The Reds don’t have such luxuries just yet and Silva has struggled for a regular run of games in the starting eleven this season.
Silva is rated highly by Sporting boss Rui Borges and with Marinakis aware of that interest, he’s prepared to go for Gyokeres and include the winger in any deal.
Ultimately, it will come down to the wishes of the player and the Reds might have some magic to work on the striker.
Viktor Gyokeres stats 2024/25
There’s little point getting excited just yet with Forest still having work to do in order to make the Champions League next season.
Silva could find game time even harder to come by next season if Forest land more quality in attack and a departure does feel quite likely.
| Viktor Gyokeres stats 2024/25 | Total |

| Goals | 43 |

The winger scored the Forest goals against Villa but his form has been somewhat sporadic and that is likely down to a lack of games.
Sporting might be prepared to listen to Forest over Gyokeres if it means they’re going to land Silva and it will be fascinating to see if the Reds do have a sniff of signing the Swedish star this summer.
