Nottingham Forest are soon going to be turning their attention to the transfer market with one eye already edging that way right now.

Forest are still third in the Premier League with just seven games to go and there is genuine optimism that Champions League football can be secured.

Evangelos Marinakis was desperate to land a striker in the January window but didn’t manage to get a deal over the line.

That will certainly change in the summer, with Forest looking for more firepower to try and ensure this season isn’t a flash in the pan.

Yoane Wissa was a target for Forest but Brentford stood firm on a ludicrous valuation, whilst other players were also targeted by the Reds.

How Matheus Cunha feels about joining Nottingham Forest

One player who Forest tried to sign in the January window was Wolves star Cunha, but he opted to sign a new contract instead.

However, a £62.5 million release clause will be activated in the summer transfer window and Forest are very keen on Cunha.

Now, according to TalkSPORT, it’s claimed that Manchester United are keen to discuss a transfer with Cunha amid Forest links.

Despite Forest wanting to tie up a quick deal for Cunha, it’s believed that the player himself would rather join one of the stereotypical big season, even if Forest reach the Champions League.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Cunha and it now remains to be seen where he will end up when the summer transfer window opens.

The Brazilian player is going to be very sought-after this summer and that likely won’t be solely restricted to Premier League clubs.

Forest, Arsenal and United now seem the most likely to land him but it would seem as though the Reds are losing ground.

Going to Arsenal would be easy to take as they have fought for the title for the last three seasons but moving to United would be a bitter pill.

The Red Devils likely won’t have European football on their agenda next season and ultimately, that could represent a wasted season for Cunha.

Forest would give him the chance to play every single game and at this stage, it looks as though European football will definitely be on the cards.
