Nottingham Forest welcome Everton to the City Ground on Saturday as they continue their pursuit of Champions League football.

After Forest suffered defeat against Aston Villa last time out, Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to see his side get back on track and maintain their four-point gap in the Premier League table over Chelsea and Newcastle immediately below them.

Espirito Santo was coy in his press conference ahead of the game, revealing very little about the fitness of Chris Wood, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Ola Aina.

Potentially missing key players, and with Everton earning a hard-fought Premier League point against Arsenal last Saturday, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane have consequently disagreed over how they see Saturday’s game playing out.

Roy Keane disagrees with Jamie Carragher’s prediction of a Nottingham Forest win

Dialling in on the Stick to Football podcast, Carragher gave an instant prediction that Nottingham Forest will beat Everton 1-0 on Saturday.

Keane immediately disagreed with Carragher’s view, stating defiantly: “No, Everton will score.”

The 53-year-old then gave his prediction, believing it will finish 1-1 at the City Ground.

After being handed his debut by Brian Clough, and considered by some to be a Nottingham Forest legend, Keane’s stance will undoubtedly rankle with some of the Forest faithful.

Nottingham Forest’s recent Premier League record against Everton

An excellent away performance saw Nottingham Forest beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park back in December, goals from Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White securing the three points.

That was Forest’s first win against Everton since returning to the top flight in 2022.

A Dwight McNeil thunderbolt saw the Toffees leave the City Ground with all three points last season.

Later in the 2023/24 campaign, with both sides scrapping to avoid relegation, Everton beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in controversial fashion, Espirito Santo’s side on the wrong end of some poor officiating.

That led Nottingham Forest to release a strong statement condemning Stuart Attwell, the VAR for the fixture, as a ‘Luton fan’.

With both sides safe and in different predicaments this season, however, Saturday’s fixture should hopefully be run in a somewhat less controversial manner.
