Nottingham Forest still have lots of work to do in order to qualify for the Champions League and yesterday’s 1-0 reverse at the hands of Everton is a serious blow.
The Reds need to make sure they don’t completely capitulate at the finish line, with the walls closing in around the push for a top-five finish.
Forest lost to Everton in sickening circumstances. Abdoulaye Doucoure’s goal came in the 94th minute and stunned the City Ground into silence.
Nuno Espirito Santo defended Murillo after the game, with his error ultimately the reason why the Everton midfielder was allowed to run through and score the winner.
The Forest head coach wasn’t impressed with the level of performance and it’s perhaps a mystery why he didn’t use his allocated five substitutes.

Jason Lee hails Forest winger Jota Silva
It wasn’t really a day when too many positives could be taken out of the game, but Silva was one of them.
The winger was substituted for Anthony Elanga in the second half, but there is an argument that the Portuguese performer should have remained on the pitch.
After the game, Lee interviewed Silva as part of the package on offer to supporters in hospitality areas, praising the forward for his efforts.
He said on Instagram: “It was great hearing from Jota Silva for the first time after the game. He’s made a very positive impact this season. His enthusiasm and high work rate is appreciated by all.”
Jota Silva stats vs Everton
Silva has been renowned for giving away niggly free kicks this season but this was a much more polished performance by the winger.
It seemed a strange one for Espirito Santo to take Silva off when Chris Wood in attack managed to touch the ball just 13 times.

Silva hasn’t always covered himself in glory this season but this performance against Everton should have warranted him staying on the pitch.
What the future holds for Silva remains to be seen but on his most recent display, there will be more minutes in the offing for the player before the season is out.
