Nottingham Forest’s quest for European football continues, with a trip to Tottenham up next.
Having failed to win either of their last fixtures, the City Ground now sit in sixth place after Aston Villa and Chelsea’s victories over the weekend.
Despite Forest’s Champions League chances hanging in the balance, there is still undoubtedly room for optimism, having climbed from relegation candidates to European contenders under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Forest’s rise under Nuno has been nothing short of remarkable, and fellow manager Ange Postecoglou has been keen to heap praise on the Portuguese’s impact.

Ange Postecoglou hails Nuno Espirito Santo impact
Postecoglou revealed his admiration for Nuno prior to Nottingham Forest’s Boxing Day win over Spurs, and he has again praised his managerial counterpart prior to Monday’s clash.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Postecoglou hailed the Forest’s manager’s impact since arriving at the City Ground.
“Brilliant. Exciting. I think they’ve always had the quality in the team but since Nuno’s got there, they’ve come up with a game plan that suits the players they have.
“They’ve been really consistent with their approach and obviously they’ve got massive motivation like I said, it looks like the Champions League spots are going be very, very competitive in these last few games and I’m sure that’s something that they want to be a part of next year. So it’ll be a good test for us.”

Forest can break 18-year record against Tottenham
Having lost their last two games, Nuno could match an unwanted record of three consecutive defeats as Forest boss, something he has not done since February 2024.
There will also be another record on the minds of Forest fans heading into the north London clash, with the opportunity to potentially do the double over Spurs for the first time in 18 years.
| Date | Fixture | Scorers |
| January 97 | Nottingham Forest 2-1 Spurs | Bryan Roy x2 |
| March 97 | Spurs 0-1 Nottingham Forest | Dean Saunders |
The 1996/97 season was the last time Forest beat Tottenham home and away, and they could soon put that record to bed following their 1-0 win in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day.
