The future of Andrew Omobamidele will be up for discussion when the summer transfer window reopens.
Omobamidele was thrust into the first team during the second half of 2023/24 with Nuno Espirito Santo taking a look at the defender following Steve Cooper’s decision not to pick him.
This season proved a struggle for Omobamidele, however, with the signings of Nikola Milenkovic and Morato shoving him down the Forest pecking order.
In January, the Republic of Ireland international joined Strasbourg on loan for the remainder of the season, with Liam Rosenior’s team now competing for a place in the Champions League.
Despite the loan spell going relatively well, it would appear that the Ligue 1 outfit holds some reservations ahead of the summer.

Strasbourg have two issues with signing Andrew Omobamidele permanently
Strasbourg were so keen to take a look at Omobamidele that they agreed to place an option to buy him in the loan deal.
Now, according to L’Equipe, the option to sign Omobamidele from Forest might not be taken up, with the French outfit holding two reservations over the defender.
The first is the player’s injury record, with the centre-back missing some action through injury since checking in with the Ligue 1 outfit this season.
Furthermore, Strasbourg may have an issue with Omobamidele’s wages, with it claimed that the player earns around £43,000-a-week at Forest.
Forest will almost certainly want to offload Omobamidele during the summer window and it would be a small blow should his loan club choose to send him back to the Premier League.
Forest may strengthen defensively in the summer
Murillo has signed a new contract at Forest but the club will undoubtedly face vast interest for his signature from a host of clubs.
Milenkovic and Morato will likely remain on Trentside, with Willy Boly likely to leave and Zach Abbott still extremely raw at this level.
David Carmo will check in from Olympiacos to bolster the ranks after his season-long loan in Greece, but another option might well be added to the defensive ranks in the summer.
With European football very likely to be on the agenda, Forest will need a bigger squad but sadly for Omobamidele, it does feel as though Espirito Santo won’t hand him a reprieve next season.
