Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham on Monday Night Football to breathe some life into the push towards Champions League football.

The Reds needed to get back to winning ways following cruel defeats to Aston Villa and Everton in recent weeks.

Nuno Espirito Santo got his team bang up for the game against his former club, however, and the 2-1 win was no less than Forest deserved in North London.

Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood scored the goals against Tottenham but it was a performance built once again on solid foundations from the back by Forest.

It’s what the whole season has been about, with the likes of Nikola Milenkovic, Matz Sels and Murillo all producing the goods during the season.

Kelvin Wilson hails Harry Toffolo after Forest performance

Toffolo was a surprise name on the team sheet when it was announced on Monday night, given that he’s not started a Premier League game all season.

The left-back did really well, with Toffolo earning praise for his goal-line clearance in the second half and it ultimately helped Forest claim a big point.

Kelvin Wilson was seriously impressed with Toffolo, too, and he believes that the professionalism he showcased was simply outstanding.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “Players that are around the team, it comes to man management. Don’t get me wrong, Toffolo isn’t going to be happy that he’s not playing, he wants to play, but if a manager makes you feel part of the team, it makes a massive difference and that’s the thing with Toffolo.

“He’s come in, he’s been professional, he’s put in a performance that, what is it, his first start of the season, he’s only played four games, yeah, that’s unbelievable.”

It really was a performance from Toffolo against Tottenham that summed up what he’s all about.

Since signing from Huddersfield for just £2.5 million in the summer of 2022, he’s rarely been the first choice and ultimately it takes a certain sort of man to come in and play this well after such a turbulent season.

Toffolo was at it from minute one and although he was up against Wilson Odobert, he wasn’t fazed and did a brilliant job throughout the clash.

Whether the player gets the chance to keep his place at Wembley remains to be seen but this trip to North London on Monday was one that Toffolo should remember for all the right reasons.
