Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is attracting widespread interest.

Morgan Gibbs-White has enjoyed an outstanding season for Nottingham Forest, netting five times whilst laying on nine assists.

The former Wolves playmaker has been a key fixture in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who have stunned the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest currently reside in fourth and look well-placed to qualify for the Champions League, so naturally, some of their key players are being mooted with big-money moves.

Nottingham Forest fans not convinced by James McAtee

Nottingham Forest are keeping tabs on James McAtee as a potential replacement for Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

The Manchester City star has been linked with a number of clubs, including Newcastle United and AC Milan.

But, fans aren’t convinced McAtee would be a good successor to the current Forest number 10.

@reeves1960 said: “No, not to replace for MGW but to play with MGW. Forest are now an aspirational club that no longer has to sell its Crown Jewels on the cheap to a cartel club. Morgan can play Champions League football and not change his post code. Pep’s project isn’t the attraction it was.”

“Won’t fill the boots of Gibbs-white, be a good signing for depth on the wings though,” @everythingNFFC added.

@astaley85: “No thanks, not what we need if we do get Champions League. Will need that instant quality.”

“I don’t see the hype if I’m honest,” @forestmad80 commented.

@Reggie8jb posted: “I’d be very disappointed if we waste money on him. Need ready-made quality.”

@PhilBywater: “Looked dreadful for Cty last night.”

McAtee stats this season

McAtee enjoyed two productive loan spells at Sheffield United prior to this season.

Pep Guardiola wanted to keep him in the Man City squad and he’s impressed despite being a bit-part player.

The 22-year-old has netted a respectable seven goals this term, despite only starting eight times in all competitions.

According to FBref data, McAtee is of a similar profile to former Forest winger Brennan Johnson and Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo.

McAtee has just one year left on his deal, so Forest could land his signature for a significantly discounted transfer fee.
