Nottingham Forest’s promotion-winning squad are still adored by supporters.
Having been out of the Premier League for 23 years, Nottingham Forest’s promotion was a little more special than perhaps other sides who go up.
It had been an impossible task for a plethora of managers before Steve Cooper guided them up via the play-offs.
Forest beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the final and it remains one of the best days in the club’s recent history.
And, for one member of the playing squad, he has now come out and admitted that his short stint at Forest made him and his family big supporters.

Steve Cook admits him and his family are big Nottingham Forest fans
Steve Cook was only at Nottingham Forest for 18 months, but he quickly became a real fan favourite as he was pivotal in the promotion-winning campaign.
Cook, who joined on a free transfer from Bournemouth, became a key fixture in Cooper’s defence before being shipped off to Queens Park Rangers during the summer of 2023.
He made just 34 appearances for Forest in total, but despite that, he and his family are now big supporters and will be in attendance at the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City this weekend.
“I’m definitely a fan, my children are fans, I’m taking the oldest on Sunday so we’ll be in the crowd,” Cook told BBC Nottingham Sport.
“We watch as much as we can, right now I’d say I’m more of a fan than a previous player. It’s been really nice to follow and watch and learn and see what the manager’s doing with the players that I’ve played with and taking their game to the next level.”
Cook has been spotted watching Forest this season
Cook has been spotted in the Forest crowd this season, despite plying his trade in the Championship with QPR.
Cook was pictured watching Forest in their away clash against Fulham in February, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
The veteran centre-back has also supported the East Midlanders in the media, as he made a bold prediction just months after departing the City Ground.
Cook backed Forest to finish in the top 10 last season and whilst they were some way off that, it’s come to fruition this term and some.
The QPR stalwart has certainly left his mark on Forest fans, too, as they still adore him.
