Nottingham Forest could be in for a busy summer ahead, and fans think they have found the ideal target for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Forward reinforcements seem to be on high Evangelos Marinakis’ list of priorities, with the likes of Mathues Cunha linked with Forest.

Another Premier League forward who is said to be attracting interest from the City Ground is Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Forest have reportedly shortlisted Mateta as a potential target ahead of the summer, with Manchester United also vying for his signature.

With this in mind, it seems like Forest fans are big fans of the potential move after watching Mateta’s FA Cup semi-final display.

Nottingham Forest fans want Jean-Philippe Mateta

Chris Wood has proven the doubters wrong with his performances this season – currently only behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland in the Premier League scoring charts.

But at 33 years old, Forest fans recognise the need for long-term replacement, with many believing Mateta could be the man.

After watching his impressive performance against Aston Villa, supporters took to social media in the hope of possibly signing the striker this summer.

A second fan said: “Just saying this. I’d go all out for him.”

“Would love him at Forest,” a fourth supporter added.

Another fan stated: “He’s in my top 3 with Delap and now Bonny from Parma from what I’ve seen.”

Alan Shearer likes what he sees from Mateta

Despite missing a penalty, Mateta was instrumental for Palace at Wembley – occupying the Villa back four and causing problems all afternoon.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer was commentating on the game for BBC and took time to highlight the performance of the Frenchman.

“Jean-Philippe Mateta’s a nightmare to play against,” the former Newcastle man said.

“He’s doing his job superbly well. He’s working hard and not giving the defenders a second to settle on the ball.”

With Mateta likely to cost in the region of £40m, Forest may fancy their chances of landing the striker this summer, especially with Champions League money potentially flooding in.
