Nottingham Forest could be set for a transformative summer transfer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently reside a point outside of the Champions League spots with a game in hand.

So, they’re well placed to pull off the unthinkable, and it’d make them an extremely attractive destination in the eyes of many forthcoming transfer targets.
Forest are already eyeing Bournemouth striker Evanilson, whilst Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez has emerged as a potential option.
And now, a Nottingham Forest insider reckons two former players could rejoin the club if they qualify for the Champions League.

Nottingham Forest tipped to sign Brennan Johnson and Matty Cash
When Forest were going through a tough time, both in the Championship and Premier League, there were more attractive projects out there.
Plus, finances were tight, so they lost two academy graduates in Matty Cash and Brennan Johnson to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.
But now, there aren’t many better teams to play for than Forest and so The Athletic’s Paul Taylor has mooted the possibility of Cash and Johnson making a sensational return to the City Ground.
“If you want to look at former players making a return, to fill that void – and this is still very much personal speculation from me at this point – Brennan Johnson or Matty Cash might be more interesting prospects, Taylor explained.
“Nothing to suggest that anything is in the pipeline at this point. But they would both qualify as home grown and club home grown…
“Forest need to focus on getting into the Champions League first, but if they can get over the line, there would be a certain romance to bringing either of them back, wouldn’t there?
“It would certainly be symbolic of how much the club has grown and evolved, if such notions ever do become a realistic prospect.
“When Cash moved to Villa they were definitely viewed as a bigger club… the same with Tottenham and Brennan.
“Now Forest are competing at the same level. So why not?”
Forest can do better than Cash and Johnson
If Forest do indeed finish in the top five, thus qualifying for Europe’s top league, then they should be aiming much higher than Cash and Johnson.
Yes, they were terrific servants for the club, but they wouldn’t be upgrades on Ola Aina or Anthony Elanga.
Forest should be shopping for a higher calibre of player, and it seems like they are based on recent transfer links.
Nuno has been eyeing players like Juventus’ Douglas Luiz and Borussia Dortmund’s Daniel Svensson, so it doesn’t even appear as though the manager would entertain signing Cash and Johnson.
Forest have moved on.
