Nottingham Forest have a game in hand on their competitors, so if they beat Brentford at the City Ground on Thursday, they’ll move back into third place with just four games left.

Qualifying for Europe’s top competition would make them a much more attractive proposition in the summer window, and it’d give them a bigger budget.

With that said, the Tricky Trees are now plotting an ambitious swoop for a Premier League star ahead of their potential European campaign.

Nottingham Forest plotting bid for Bournemouth striker Evanilson

Forest are quite clearly in the market for a striker this summer, as Liverpool number nine Darwin Nunez has been linked to the City Ground.

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is also on Forest’s radar, however, he looks set to join Manchester United.

Now, according to GiveMeSport, Nottingham Forest are plotting a move to sign Bournemouth’s Evanilson.

It’s understood that bosses are seriously contemplating testing the Cherries’ resolve as they believe the Brazilian would be a perfect fit for Nuno’s system.

Evanilson, who joined in a £40m move from Porto last summer, has netted 11 goals whilst laying on five assists this season.

The report further adds that Brentford winger Bryan Mbuemo is an option, too.

Evanilson’s price tag may be an issue

Considering Bournemouth shelled out £40m on Evanilson’s signature only last summer, it would take a colossal bid to get him out of the Vitality Stadium.

The 25-year-old could cost north of £60m, so Forest bosses must weigh up whether he’s worth that and if there are better deals out there.

Nunez, who admittedly isn’t as polished, is valued at around £34m by Liverpool, so that could be a smarter bit of business.

It’d allow more funds to be allocated elsewhere, with Forest also keen to sign a winger as they prepare to bulk up their squad ahead of what’s expected to be a congested fixture list next term.
