Nottingham Forest could be in for a busy summer, with forward reinforcements seemingly high on the club’s radar.

Matheus Cunha has been heavily linked with Forest, but Man United seem to hold the cards regarding the Brazilian’s future.

So, with the Wolves star seemingly out of the picture, Forest have turned their attention to Darwin Nunez in recent weeks, as Evangelos Marinakis lines up a blockbuster move.

With the Nunez links failing to go away, it has now become clear how much Liverpool are willing to sell the striker for this summer.

Nottingham Forest given Darwin Nunez price tag

Nunez has failed to live up to the hype since arriving from Benfica, and it seems like Liverpool are now ready to cut their losses.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS, who claim the Anfield outfit are willing to sell the striker for a fee between £34m-£38.5m this summer.

The report states that Atletico Madrid are currently favourites to secure the Liverpool star’s signature, but Nottingham Forest also want him this summer, especially if they are able to secure Champions League football.

Arne Slot’s side are also reportedly willing to loan the striker as well, as long last the interested club pay his salary and include a purchase option in the deal – the sort of transfer which could tempt Forest.

Paul Merson pinpointed why Nunez could be clever signing for Forest

Nunez has had some impressive moments at Liverpool, most notably against Forest back in March 2024, when he scored a last-minute winner for the Reds at the City Ground.

There have, however, also been a number of clangers from the Uruguayan during his Anfield spell, leaving some Forest fans perhaps wary of signing a striker who misses so many chances.

Paul Merson, though, believes Nunez is worth having in your team, telling Sky Sports in February 2024.

“He never hides. It’s the biggest compliment that I can give him. People miss chances and you see them not getting in the box. The ball goes down the wing and they’re on the edge of the box waiting for a pullback.

“Even there, when he’s already hit the post three times, missed a penalty, he’s still getting in there for that header. He’s the one who’s bursting a gut to get in there.

“You hope it works for him. You know, for me, he gets in my team every day of the week, because he is an absolute handful. He’s willing to run without the ball. He makes runs, he’s a team player.”
