Serie A club now desperate to offload striker who flopped at Nottingham Forest, he’s banished from training

Nottingham Forest have made great strides in the transfer market recently, but since returning to the Premier League, it hasn’t always been sweetness and light.

Heavy ridicule was thrown in the direction of Forest for the first two transfer windows after promotion, with no fewer than 30 new players being added to the ranks.

Since then, steps have been taken to ensure a more savvy approach with things finally clicking into place in the summer of 2024, with quality over quantity the order of the day.

In the summer of 2023, mistakes were still made. The club’s loan signings, which came to the City Ground, were largely drab and once again, more strides needed to be made.

One of the players who checked in during the summer of 2023 is now firmly in limbo, and with his current club, he’s turned into a bit of a forgotten man.

AC Milan desperate to sell Divock Origi

This will come as no surprise to any Forest fan who spent a year watching Origi stink the City Ground out, but the Belgian is now facing serious limbo.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milanese giants are growing increasingly concerned that the striker will remain on the payroll next season, with his contract running until 2026.

Origi has already been banished from the training facility in Milan having refused to make himself available for selection for the 2024/25 campaign.

No suitors came forward in the summer and given that he did very little at Forest, that doesn’t come as a huge surprise regarding the £87,000-a-week striker.

Milan won’t be asking for a transfer fee for the talisman but now they’re holding serious concerns over whether anyone will even come in for him.

Origi in context won’t go down as the worst signing the Reds have ever made, but ultimately, in the modern era some will consider him as being up there.

The striker was at Liverpool and scored some big goals for them under Jurgen Klopp, but for whatever reason, it just never worked out for him at Forest.

His arrival coincided with Chris Wood hitting some seriously good form and that saw a number of his opportunities come from the bench.

Origi proved a complete and utter waste of a loan during the 2023/24 campaign and thankfully, Forest appear to be moving on from signings of this nature these days.
