Nottingham Forest have five cup finals left.

That was the words of Morgan Gibbs-White, who posted a heartfelt statement after Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

“Your support was the best I’ve ever seen. Sorry we couldn’t get the job done. Five more finals to go,” Gibbs-White wrote on his Instagram.

That starts with a home clash against Brentford on Thursday evening, which could see Nuno Espirito Santo’s men jump back into third with a win.

Paul Merson predicts Nottingham Forest vs Brentford

Paul Merson, writing in his Sportskeeda column, has predicted the score when Nottingham Forest host Brentford at the City Ground on Thursday.

“Forest will be sixth at the time of kick-off against Brentford,” Merson explained.

“Now that is a huge psychological pressure they must deal with against a tricky opposition. Brentford are a decent team. They might be inconsistent but can certainly get results against anyone on their day.”

The Sky Sports pundit continued: “If Forest win this, I think they will qualify for the Champions League by the end of the season. But I have a feeling this will end in a draw.”

Merson predicted a 1-1 draw, which will see Forest move just above Chelsea into fifth place but behind Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Nottingham Forest vs Brentford: Head to head

The last five meetings between Nottingham Forest and Brentford have produced a number of different results.

Forest won their most recent meeting against the Bees back in December, but that’s the only three points they’ve picked up in the last five.

Thomas Frank’s side have won two and drawn two, so they just have the edge heading into Thursday’s game.

Although, Forest’s home record this season is impressive, as they’ve only lost three of their 16 games in the East Midlands.

So they’ll of course be the favourites.
