Nottingham Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Thursday evening.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men knew a win would take them back into third place and in control of their Champions League destiny.

But defeat now leaves them in sixth place with an uphill task heading into the final four games of the season.

Kevin Scahde and Yoane Wissa sunk Nottingham Forest, with the latter showing exactly why Nuno tried to sign him in January.

To make matters worse, Jamie Redknapp reckons the referee made an error that could’ve changed the course of the game.

Jamie Redknapp says Keane Lewis-Potter should’ve been sent off

Anthony Elanga was benched against Manchester City at the weekend, which was a decision criticised by many, especially after impressing when he did come on.

Anthony Elanga got the nod this evening and caused Brentford left-back Keane Lewis-Potter all sorts of problems down the right flank.

Lewis-Potter was booked for a foul on the jet-heeled wide player and then was fortunate to get away without a second booking after blocking off Ola Aina’s run, according to Jamie Redknapp.

“This causes every defender a problem,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports. “So many attacks come down this right wing.

“It’s probably a [second] yellow card. I can see Rico Henry, maybe they should change it. Because Lewis-Potter has been so good all season, you don’t want to take him off right now.”

Forest have four cup finals left

There is still plenty to play for in the final four games of the season, with winnable fixtures coming up for Nuno’s men.

The East Midlanders also play Champions League rivals Chelsea on the final day of the season, so they will have the chance to claw back points if needed.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, have a much tougher end to the season on paper, as they still have Chelsea and Arsenal to play.

It’s still in their hands.
