While the disappointment of Nottingham Forest fans would’ve been clear during the loss to Brentford, Kevin Schade was still complimentary of the City Ground atmosphere.
Online, the frustration turned to anger as Forest fans criticised Murillo’s display, he wasn’t the only one in the firing line, though, as Awoniyi frustrated Forest fans aswell.

Frustration was the key word as the Reds’ Champions League dreams took another hit, dropping to sixth in the Premier League table and seeing their end-of-season fate drop out of their hands.
However, frustrated or otherwise, Brentford’s Schade was complimentary of the noise that the City Ground crowd made on Thursday night.

Kevin Schade credits ‘very loud’ Nottingham Forest fans
Nuno Espirito Santo has credited the City Ground atmosphere already this season, and the fans were at full voice once more, even if their side weren’t performing on the pitch.
So much so that Schade himself chose to comment on the atmosphere in his post-match comments, alongside talk of his goal.
Speaking live on Sky Sports, he said: “We knew it would be very difficult away. They’re doing very well at the moment, the fans are very loud. It was an ugly win, I would say.”
Speaking more about the goal itself, he added: “I worked hard for it. Good ball from Nathan [Collins], a bit lucky. I think it was much more difficult in the second half when they played man-to-man against us.”
Reflecting on the goal, the attributes that Schade shows are exactly the type that the Forest squad lacks in forward areas.
Nottingham Forest need an attacker like Kevin Schade
Murillo was at fault for Yoane Wissa’s goal, but it was a run in between Ola Aina and Nikola Milenkovic that caught Forest out for Schade’s opener, a run not seen enough from the home side’s attackers.
Schade showed speed to dart in from the left, as well as strength to push his way through to finish against Matz Sels. Callum Hudson-Odoi is certainly capable of this as shown by his goal against Man City in March, but it’s not something seen often enough.
| Statistic | Kevin Schade vs Nottingham Forest |
| Shots on target | 1 |
| Successful dribbles (%) | 3/4 (75%) |
| Ground duels won | 5/7 (71%) |
Efficiency was key for Schade, scoring with his only shot in the game as well as completing 75% of his dribbles and battling to win 71% of his ground duels.
Regardless of whose decision it was to not strengthen in January, the Forest coaching staff could seriously do with a wide forward who can offer more of a goal threat from the left to support Chris Wood, as Schade did for Brentford on Thursday.
