Nottingham Forest are still well-placed to qualify for the Champions League.

Despite Monday’s damning defeat against Brentford, Nottingham Forest only remain outside of the top five on goal difference.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are back in action tomorrow as they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, which many are expecting to be a difficult game.

Chris Sutton and Paul Merson both think Forest will draw at Palace, so clearly many are starting to doubt whether they’ll be able to qualify for Europe’s top league.

Now, Alan Shearer has just predicted whether Forest will finish in the top five.

Alan Shearer predicts whether Nottingham Forest will finish in the top five

The Match of the Day panel discussed the race for Champions League football last night and Alan Shearer had his say on who will finish in the top five.

Joe Hart: “Super tight, Man City showing their quality business end.”

Gary Lineker: “Should be okay, I think City, it’s just I think two from the other four?”

Alan Shearer: “Newcastle being one of them probably, Chelsea. I would say even that, I’m not just saying it because they’re sixth and seventh at the minute, but Villa and Forest for me would be maybe the ones (that miss out).”

Hart: “That Chelsea Forest game last game of the season could be really vital.”

Forest’s four cup finals

Forest have four cup finals left, with the goal of Champions League football still well within reach.

It starts with a trip to the capital, with Nuno’s men simply having to take three points at Selhurst Park if they’re to realise their dreams.

A home clash against East Midlands rivals Leicester follows, which they’ll be favourites in, before another trip to London, this time versus West Ham United.

And, on the final day, it could be a decider for a top five finish, with Forest playing host to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, whom they held to a score draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.
