Nottingham Forest picked up a valuable point away at Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side went behind at Selhurst Park with Eberechi Eze converting from the penalty spot.

But, Murillo popped up with a leveller not long after and it keeps Nottingham Forest well in the race for Champions League football.

Whilst results haven’t quite been there recently, it’s still been a fabulous season for the Tricky Trees with European football of some sort almost guaranteed.

Jamie Carragher still fancies Forest to finish in the top five, with next weekend’s fixtures absolutely crucial, given Chelsea and Newcastle face each other.

And, speaking on Monday Night Football, Everton defender James Tarkowski has shared what David Moyes has been saying about Forest in team talks.

David Moyes uses Nottingham Forest as inspiration in his Everton team talks

James Tarkowski appeared on Monday Night Football with Dave Jones and Jamie Carragher last night.

He revealed that Everton boss David Moyes has been using Nottingham Forest as inspiration during team talks.

“The manager (Moyes) has mentioned it, we can look at Forest – a team who was down there and got right up there this season… so why can’t we? That will be our ambition going into next season.”

Forest have been flying the flag for sides outside the traditional big six, proving that you can challenge at the upper end of the table without spending an absolute fortune.

Their net spend across the last two transfer windows has been just over £18m, which is one of the lowest in the division.

Forest have three cup finals left

There’s no doubt that whatever happens, it’s been a magnificent season for Nuno’s men, who were tipped to be in a relegation battle by many.

But, having spent so long in the Champions League spots, there would be a sense of disappointment if they were to miss out.

Just three cup finals remain for Forest, starting with a home clash against East Midlands rivals Leicester City.

West Ham United follows that and then the big one, Chelsea at the City Ground on the final day, which is a six-pointer for the top five race.

Alan Shearer reckons Forst will finish outside the Champions League spots and many pundits a like, so there’s plenty of motivation to prove the naysayers wrong.
