Nottingham Forest’s point against Crystal Palace will hopefully be looked back on as a positive one in the Champions League race, except for one unfortunate record that was set.
The 1-1 draw was somewhat hampered by Murillo limping off against Palace, with Forest fans patiently waiting to find out whether their Brazilian star will miss any of the Champions League run-in.

Jamie Carragher gave Forest Champions League hope when analysing the final games for the sides involved in the hunt, something that Nuno Espirito Santo can hopefully harness into positive momentum on the back of the draw.
With Forest fans slamming Morgan Gibbs-White, though, the truth is that this momentum hasn’t yet been found, emphasised by a rather unflattering record the Reds set on Monday night.

Nottingham Forest set unwanted yellow card record
Ahead of the game, Espirito Santo confirmed Callum Hudson-Odoi’s hamstring injury would keep him out for the next two games at least.
His de facto replacement in the lineup was Nicolas Dominguez, who was booked after seven minutes at Selhurst Park. He wasn’t the only one, though, as seven more of his teammates’ names were taken:
- Matz Sels
- Ibrahim Sangare
- Neco Williams
- Morgan Gibbs-White
- Ola Aina
- Ryan Yates
- Morato
These eight yellow cards were the most handed out to a single team in the Premier League this season, not the most flattering record to claim for the Forest squad.
However, it’s not all bad for the players themselves, as the fine that the Premier League incurs on a player who receives a yellow card isn’t something they need to worry about too much.
How much does the Premier League fine a player for a yellow card
Of course, any fine will be annoying, but the fee will certainly be affordable for Gibbs-White, Aina, and the others carded against Crystal Palace.
According to The FA, players are fined £10 for a yellow card offence, meaning that the Reds collectively owe the governing body £80 for their misconduct against Palace.
Perhaps most interestingly, though, is that this £10 fee doesn’t change depending on the level you play at, so a Sunday League star will pay as much as someone booked at the City Ground.
Ben Foster discussed this on his Fozcast podcast, saying: “It comes out of your wages. On the bottom of your slip, it will say FA Charge, yellow card or whatever they label it as, but you will still pay the same amount of money.
“I remember as a kid getting a yellow card for bringing somebody down for a penalty, and I had to pay a £7 yellow card fee, and that comes through the post, it actually gets sent to your house!”
Thankfully, the Forest manager doesn’t have any suspensions to deal with from the Palace game, but hopefully those £10 fines can be what drives the motivation ahead of Leicester City on Sunday.
