Nottingham Forest will be plying their trade in the UEFA Conference League next season, so they need to bulk up their squad accordingly this summer transfer window.

Evangelos Marinakis is ready to hand Nuno Espirito Santo a substantial budget, as he wants to turn Forest into a side challenging at the top end of the Premier League every season.

Nottingham Forest are keen to sign a striker, with competition needed up front with Chris Wood, who won’t be able to play two games a week next term.

Liam Delap is being linked with a move to the City Ground, although, there are a number of clubs in the mix.

Now, one of their other reported targets has just sent Elliot Anderson a two-word message.

Nottingham Forest target James McAtee sends Elliot Anderson message

Morgan Gibbs-White is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and it’s being reported that a £70m deal could be agreed.

Forest want to replace him with James McAtee, who would cost around £35m the other way, and now the talented playmaker has just sent Elliot Anderson a two-word message on Instagram.

Underneath Anderson’s post, which was a highlight reel of his best moments this season, James McAtee commented: “Geordie Maradona.”

The pair clearly have a close relationship, perhaps from their time together with the England under-21s, so that could be an extra draw for McAtee to make the switch to the City Ground.

Forest leading Leeds United in race to sign McAtee

It’s understood that Forest are leading Leeds United in the race to sign McAtee and are ready to make a move.

Pep Guardiola is willing to sanction his sale this summer despite a productive season, given his limited minutes.

The 2003-born has netted six goals in just nine starts, so perhaps with more game time in the East Midlands, he could really flourish.

It was initially being reported that McAtee prefers a move to Bayer Leverkusen, but that stance may have changed in recent weeks.

A telling summer awaits Forest and McAtee.
