Dusan Vlahovic is the latest forward to be linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Vlahovic is looking for a move away from Juventus after spending three underwhelming seasons with the club, by the standards of the Bianconeri, that is.

Multiple Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the Serbian, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side among them.

However, not all Nottingham Forest fans seem to be convinced, pointing to one issue in particular.

Nottingham Forest fans are divided about Dusan Vlahovic because of his wage demands

Being linked with a player of the calibre of Dusan Vlahovic from a club of the stature of Juventus is undoubtedly a feather in the cap of the Reds.

Indeed, some Forest fans on social media got swept up in the potential transfer, believing it needs to be made because of the intent it would signal.

One fan wrote, ‘This would be some signing’, while another simply added, “Yes please!”

Yet others were deeply concerned with the financials surrounding a potential deal.

According to Teamtalk, Vlahovic is demanding £190,000 per week to any potential club that wants to prise him away from Italy. For some Reds fans, that number is too high.

Responding to the potential deal, one fan wrote, ‘Not unless he takes a pay cut.’

Another added: ‘Never happening, he’s on about £200k a week [and] Forest aren’t paying that.’

One fan also pointed to the fact that Manchester United are interested in the 25-year-old, questioning ‘why Forest are going to match the wages Man Utd would be willing to pay him.’

It therefore seems that the Forest faithful are divided on whether a deal for Vlahovic should be pursued.

Yoane Wissa and other strikers should be prioritised ahead of Dusan Vlahovic

Vlahovic is undoubtedly a talented striker. He wouldn’t have scored 56 goals for Juventus, and 49 for Fiorentina before then, if that wasn’t the case.

An argument can also be made that he would fit Forest’s style of play. A similar height and build to Chris Wood, he would definitely make the most of some of the deliveries supplied by Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Morgan Gibbs-White.

The wage is a big sticking point, though.

Were Forest to pay such a sum, it would signal a sign of intent that they want to build on their excellent 2024/25 campaign. At the same time, it could disrupt the happiness of the squad, with other players knocking on the manager’s door asking for a similar pay packet.

Moreover, the money involved in the deal could affect the other business Forest are able to do this summer.

As such, the club should look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, especially as different options are available to them.

Igor Jesus is expected to arrive at the City Ground after the Club World Cup. Beyond him, links continue to exist with Yoane Wissa following the club’s pursuit of the Brentford striker in January.
