Nottingham Forest will have European football in their sights next season, and winning the UEFA Conference League has to be seen as a realistic ambition.

The Reds were in fine form under Nuno Espirito Santo last season and finished in seventh place in the Premier League, the team’s highest position for 30 years.

Anthony Elanga is being linked with Newcastle this summer, whilst Morgan Gibbs-White is the subject of vast interest too.

The last thing Forest need right now, however, is a quick fire sale and the hope will be that the Reds can keep everything together ahead of next season.

Espirito Santo is facing a really cruel setback, however, and it has nothing to do with the personnel that he picks to play matches each week.

Journalist makes claim about Nottingham Forest

Antonio Dias is set to join Fenerbahce from Forest to work alongside Jose Mourinho, and according to Tom Collomosse, it could be a serious error of judgement.

The Forest assistant manager is departing for Turkey and although clubs are often powerless to prevent staff from leaving, the Daily Mail journalist thinks this is a big mistake.

He said on X: “Antonio Dias is possibly the most important figure in Nuno’s staff. It will be a huge blow to lose him.”

Marinakis will have to move quickly in order to replace Dias and the hope will be that something can be in place by the time the players return for pre-season training next month.

Nuno Espirito Santo must move quickly

Dias leaving Forest is of serious detriment to the dressing room, and the Reds will hope that a new member of staff can come in quickly.

The Reds had a brilliant togetherness last season, and the hope will be that this departure doesn’t see things start to unravel behind the scenes.

Staff have left the club before, and they will continue to do so in the future but right now, Espirito Santo has to get this situation sorted quickly.

The Forest head coach is a very experienced manager and now, he must dip into his extensive contacts to get a new assistant sorted before the new season.
