Nottingham Forest will go in search of new players this summer, with wingers high on the list of priorities.

Anthony Elanga is being courted by Newcastle, whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi needs some competition for his City Ground place next season.

With European football on the agenda for 2025/26, Forest need to have a stronger squad in the final third, with Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa sometimes flattering to deceive last season.

Forest need more firepower next season with four competitions to play for and the transfer rumours are starting to come thick and fast from the Reds’ perspective.

Nottingham Forest make a move for Alexis Saelemaekers

According to journalist Luca Maninetti, the Reds are now really keen on Saelemaekers, with the Belgian player very much in the sights of the club.

The player has been in fine form over the past 12 months, scoring seven times and claiming seven assists during a season-long loan spell with Roma.

He’s now returned to AC Milan, where it’s thought that they might like to keep him around, although a lack of European football next season could see the winger seek a move.

Forest can land the versatile winger for around £23 million this summer and are considered one of the only clubs keen to sign the player.

Saelemaekers could be kept by Milan ahead of next season, although the player’s desires could complicate things and eventually lead to a departure.

Forest desperately need new forwards

Last season, the Reds ran out of steam towards the end of the season, and as a result, a better squad is needed during the next campaign.

Signing a player like Saelemaekers would certainly be a boost for the football club, and his experience of playing in Europe would be very useful.

Roma star Leandro Paredes called the winger ‘quality’ last season and it’s clear that he boasts the sort of quality that would make him a decent signing for Forest.

In the context of the current squad, Squawka shows that Saelemaekers completes a higher percentage of dribbles than Elanga, completing 44.9% of the dribbles he attempted last season.

Firepower is definitely the order of the day for Forest ahead of the next season and Saelemaekeres looks like the sort of player that the club should be targeting.
