Harry Toffolo picks the Nottingham Forest star he feels ‘lucky’ to have played with

Nottingham Forest have chosen not to give a new contract to Harry Toffolo, and after three years at the City Ground, he will depart this summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White sent a message to Toffolo after his departure, and despite a lack of game time during 2024/25, he was a popular figure behind the scenes.

Toffolo produced a brilliant goal-line clearance back in April as the Reds beat Tottenham 2-1 and that was definitely a highlight of his for last season.

In total, the left-back made 57 appearances for the Reds and now he will head off to pastures new, with Rangers linked with Toffolo this summer.

Harry Toffolo hails Nottingham Forest star Ryan Yates

Toffolo has been discussing his time at Forest on the latest episode of the Forest Focus podcast and he speaks fondly of his time at the football club

The left-back has been the model professional on Trentside and the work he’s done in the community away from football hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Toffolo was quizzed on the most underrated player in the Forest dressing room and he was asked to give his verdict on Yates after naming the captain as the leading candidate in that category.

He said: “Every team needs a Ryan Yates. He’s on your team, you love him. If he’s not on your team, you hate him. Every team needs a Ryan Yates.

“There are moments in games where you just need someone to wind someone up, find a pass, score a goal.

“He ticks all the boxes for me, he’s a complete midfielder and I feel so lucky to have played with him and the fans should feel lucky that he’s one of their own.”

Toffolo leaves Forest as a cult hero

Clearly, Forest have better players than Toffolo and that’s ultimately why he’s not been given a new deal at the club.

However, he’s not sulked once when he’s been out of the fold and has instead tried to help his teammates the best he can.

Toffolo’s work with a mental health campaign set up by the club won’t go unnoticed and as a positive influence around the club, he will be sorely missed.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing next season and whoever he signs for will be getting not only a decent player but also a superb human being.
