Nottingham Forest have been thrust into the Dusan Vlahovic race by reports, despite the capture of Brazilian striker Igor Jesus.
Igor Jesus will arrive at Forest after the Club World Cup, a tournament that is showing Reds fans that they may have picked up an absolute gem for the upcoming Premier League season.
However, forwards with European experience are continuing to be linked if Jesus doesn’t quite adapt to English football, with Forest’s interest in Dusan Vlahovic the most notable.
With strikers a clear priority for the club, Nottingham Forest News has spoken to transfer expert Graeme Bailey about the rumoured interest in Vlahovic and how Jesus could impact any move.

Whether Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic
Forest were listed as the frontrunners for the Serbian star, but Vlahovic is keen to wait for other Premier League teams, casting doubt over his view on the move.
Regardless of Vlahovic’s stance, though, Bailey has told Nottingham Forest News that the Reds’ interest in the Juventus star has been somewhat exaggerated.
He said: “Nottingham Forest are aware of Dusan Vlahovic, they like him – he is a top striker. But I am told they are beaming about Igor Jesus – they think they have landed a real top-class striker with him – and with Chris Wood, that is really good competition.
“So is there room for a Vlahovic? Probably not. Especially given the contract he would be on, that would be more than likely suggesting a starting role and there really is not that need. Let’s not forget Awoniyi is still there – so as a three that is very strong, although it is likely he will be moved on.”
Signing a name as high-profile as Vlahovic would be exciting, but it’s almost more encouraging that the backroom staff at Forest have a true belief in Jesus’ ability.
Nottingham Forest are right to put faith in Igor Jesus
The media have been raving about Jesus at the Club World Cup after the striker has scored in both of Botafogo’s games so far, including the winner against PSG.
His stock continues to rise with every display, making Evangelos Marinakis’ early move to secure his signature look smarter by the day.
| Statistic | Igor Jesus at the Club World Cup |
| Goals | 2 |
| Shots on target per 90 | 1.53 |
| Duels won per 90 | 7.67 |
He is showing both efficiency and an ability to battle against high-level competition over in the USA, which will surely leave him in good standing to hit the ground running in the Premier League.
It’s worth noting that Vlahovic was reduced to just 19 minutes from the bench in Juventus’ opening Club World Cup game, helping to prove Forest’s stance on backing Jesus to succeed is a wise one.
