Igor Jesus is going to sign for Forest, with his medical thought to be completed. Now, it’s about strengthening other areas of the squad before a ball is kicked next season.

Forest have been linked with some big names, and now one of the biggest names available for transfer this summer is sparking speculation again.

Nottingham Forest source rates chances of signing Douglas Luiz

With Forest fans waiting for the rumour mill to really strike up, we spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey who rated our chances of signing Luiz.

Leeds have been linked with Luiz this summer, and it would appear that signing him will be a difficult deal for any Premier League club this summer.

He told Nottingham Forest News: “Douglas Luiz, he’s on massive money. It’s very hard for anyone to deal to be honest.

“Does he come back to England? Possibly. Let’s see how the Juventus one pans out. I think he would like to come back to England, but there’s nothing massively active with him and especially Forest at the minute.

“But obviously, for Forest, they have got a very good network around the world. They’re going to look at all places in the world, all aspects and Forest are very happy with their scouting network at the moment.

“Signing someone like Douglas Luiz would be a huge monumental effort. These things aren’t impossible, but is the midfield that high on Forest’s to-do list? I’m not entirely convinced it is, but they’re open to options.”

Forest want four new players at the least

It’s going to be a summer full of speculation and constant links from a Forest perspective.

The Reds want to strengthen ahead of their campaign playing European football, and the hope is that some business can come to fruition.

Forest want around four new players as a minimum, with starters and depth both on the agenda for the summer window.

Signing Luiz does feel like a pipedream and given the sums involved, it looks like most clubs could find themselves missing out on the midfielder.
