The worst-kept secret in football is out after Ola Aina put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest.

Aina has been linked with Manchester City, with his contract situation causing a bit of anxiety among the Forest fan base.

After starring as a left-back during his maiden season at the club, Aina was equally impressive as a right-back during 2024/25.

Clearly, the club have wanted to get Aina tied to a longer contract for some time, and now the speculation can end, with the Nigerian international penning a new contract.

The 28-year-old richly deserves this new deal and he will be glad to finally get the ink down on paper to remain at the football club.

Aina will remain at Forest until 2028 and he was widely considered as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League last season.

After signing for another three years, Aina lifted the lid on his new deal and it’s fair to say that he couldn’t be happier to stay on Trentside.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to continue this journey with the club.

“It’s always felt like a home ever since I joined, and I’m happy to be here. Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi could be next to sign new Forest contract

Talks are underway between Forest and Hudson-Odoi with optimism that terms can be struck over a new deal for the winger.

The Reds player has revived his career at the City Ground, with Hudson-Odoi costing Forest a remarkable £3 million in the summer of 2023.

There is even more to come from Hudson-Odoi and Forest, managing to keep players like Aina can only help when it comes to negotiating extensions for other players.

This is big news for the football club and hopefully, it’s not the last piece of positivity to come from the banks of the River Trent this summer.
