Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sell Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for a fee which will be in the region of £55 million.
A string of add-ons will be included in the deal, with the total value of Elanga’s move to Newcastle thought to be around £60 million.
Forest didn’t really want to sell one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s most important players, but in a PSR-driven era, the money should at least allow the club some flexibility in the transfer market.
Elanga is due in Newcastle for a medical after Forest agreed to the terms of the transfer, and now the club must get busy when it comes to replacing him.

Nottingham Forest plans to replace Anthony Elanga revealed
According to John Percy, the Reds won’t be resting until a replacement is added to the ranks this summer.
He believes that not one winger will be signed to replace Elanga, but two new recruits will come to the club in the wide areas.
Forest have been linked with Johan Bakayoko, although that won’t be an easy deal to do with top European clubs monitoring his availability.
The Reds have to make sure that the squad is improved from last season and right now, with Elanga set to depart, that is far from the case.
Losing one star player always felt likely, but with Morgan Gibbs-White linked with Manchester City, it was anticipated that Elanga might remain on Trentside.
Edu faces big challenge at Forest
After officially starting yesterday, Edu has now been given a hefty dose of pressure to start his Forest tenure with.
The new Global Head of Football will oversee recruitment and he will be tasked with finding an adequate replacement in the coming weeks.
Forest will be judged on what the squad looks like at the end of the transfer window and not right now, when there are still weeks to go until the start of the season.
Elanga will be a big loss and someone as quick as him will take some replacing in the Forest team ahead of next season.
