Morgan Gibbs-White’s transfer to Tottenham from Nottingham Forest remains up in the air, but a fresh update has left Reds fans ready to see their talisman sold.
Tottenham bid £60m for Gibbs-White in what turned out to be a fee that triggered the Forest man’s release clause, starting an ongoing saga that Spurs couldn’t have expected.
Referring to the release clause, Forest have disputed the legality of Spurs’ approach, alleging that Spurs have breached confidentiality by learning of the fee to trigger the clause.
Forest remain adamant that Gibbs-White is going nowhere for now, but details about the club’s efforts to retain the midfielder have led to Reds fans hoping he exits the club this summer.

Nottingham Forest fans want Morgan Gibbs-White to leave
With Gibbs-White showing no intention of signing a new deal, it seems that, whether to Spurs or not, the Englishman is looking unlikely to line up at the City Ground on the opening day of the season.
While Evangelos Marinakis’ issues with Spurs continue to play out, Forest fans have taken to social media to voice their hope to see a definitive end to the unsavoury situation.
One fan said: “Just get rid of Gibbs-White,” with another adding: Just get MGW gone and use money to get McAtee and Ramsey.”
Another fan said: “Want him out of the club now. He won’t put that effort in now and we lose more value on him.” One more said: ‘Pack his stuff and send him off down the M1. Just make Spurs pay out some extra to drop the complaint and be done with it.”
One Forest fan added: “If he doesn’t commit to a new contract then his heart’s not really with us. Get the most you can for him.” While another added: “Would ruin the dressing room. Need him gone ASAP. Get Spurs to cough up more whilst he’s still worth it, then get him off.”
It’s a shame to see the relationship between the fans and Gibbs-White end like this, but in the current circumstances, Forest will be stronger with the replacements suggested.
Nottingham Forest will be stronger without Morgan Gibbs-White
Forest have targeted Jacob Ramsey as an option to replace Gibbs-White, as well as their long-standing interest in James McAtee and Harvey Elliott.
All three have shown their ability, with McAtee captaining the England U21s Euros triumph this summer that was spearheaded by Elliott’s goals, while Ramsey has been shining for Aston Villa since breaking into the team in 2020.
| Player | 24/25 PL starts |
| Jacob Ramsey | 19 |
| James McAtee | 3 |
| Harvey Elliott | 2 |
To varying degrees, all three would arrive wanting to prove themselves at the City Ground, almost in the same way that Gibbs-White did when signing from Wolves.
This attitude would be far more beneficial to Nuno Espírito Santo than keeping a player who would rather move, so a quick solution to the Gibbs-White situation would benefit all parties.
