Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was a surprise name on the team sheet for Saturday’s game against Monaco.
Gibbs-White is being linked with Tottenham this summer, and journalists have claimed that the deal is very likely to go through in the coming weeks.
However, in the here and now, Gibbs-White still plays for Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo gave him the chance to get some minutes in the tank during a 0-0 draw against Ligue 1 opposition.
Forest fans reacted to Gibbs-White after he played the first half of the clash, with the Forest head coach making 11 changes at the half-time interval.

Ola Aina delivers verdict on Morgan Gibbs-White situation
The Forest team predicted that Gibbs-White would leave this summer, with many of the squad believing that he would go and sign for Manchester City.
However, it’s Tottenham pushing the hardest to land him this summer and Forest fan and The Athletic journalist Daniel Taylor believes Gibbs-White will leave Forest.
Aina wasn’t in the mood for giving too much away, however, and believes that for now, it’s business as usual for Gibbs-White at the City Ground.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s keeping it professional, I don’t know the ins and outs of that. He was here today, playing, and he’s training, keeping fit as normal.
“At the end of the day, we’re all professionals – we’ve got a job to do and that’s what Morgan is doing right now. He’s keeping it professional.”
Gibbs-White situation is far from ideal
The 25-year-old will be a huge loss if he leaves Forest this summer, but one way or another, this now needs a resolution.
If Gibbs-White is going, the Reds need to make sure they get him out of the door, bank the cash and look to reinvest it very quickly.
Jacob Ramsey has been linked with Forest, and hopefully, he can arrive at the club very rapidly should Gibbs-White choose to reject a new contract and move to Tottenham this summer.
Aina said all the right things on the matter involving Gibbs-White. As a result, it would appear that the situation isn’t overly concerning behind the scenes and it will be interesting to see if the Forest number 10 is on the plane for the trip to Portugal on Monday.
