Newcastle to hand Nottingham Forest another significant blow after Anthony Elanga purchase

Nottingham Forest might be forgiven if they started to block the number of Newcastle United.

Anthony Elanga was sold by Forest to Newcastle earlier this month, and now they might just be at it again.

The speed demon left for £60 million at the start of July, and although Forest want Dan Ndoye, a replacement is yet to be sought.

Elanga has carved out 32 goal contributions in two seasons at Forest, and time really is of the essence when it comes to replacing him.

Now, the Magpies are eyeing another raid on Forest.

Newcastle set to go for Ross Wilson

The Forest sporting director has been a huge part of the savvy approach made by Forest in terms of transfers over the last two years, but he could be set to leave.

According to The Athletic, Wilson is the man Newcastle will now approach to replace Paul Mitchell who left at the end of last year.

There has been no official approach from Newcastle as of yet, but Forest owner Evangelos Mariankis can expect one very soon.

Wilson and Eddie Howe maintain a very close working relationship, and clearly as the two are friends, the Newcastle boss is going to get his wish.

Will Forest replace Ross Wilson?

Behind the scenes, Forest might have already prepared for the sporting director’s departure.

Edu arrived at Forest earlier this summer and as a result, he will surely take on some of the responsibilities that Wilson was in charge of.

There might be some more responsibility for Edu but it does feel like Marinakis will also seek a replacement to help the former Arsenal guru out.

Losing good people who form part of the hierarchy is not ideal and right now, Forest would be forgiven for being absolutely sick of the sight of Newcastle United.
