Nottingham Forest fall right into £36m transfer trap after Manchester United ploy

Nottingham Forest are going to up the ante when it comes to signing a replacement for Anthony Elanga.

The winger was instrumental for Forest last season but Elanga was sold to Newcastle earlier this month in a deal worth around £60 million.

Ever since, Forest have been working tirelessly to try and get a new winger into the club, with three wide players likely to arrive this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo wants new players to arrive at Forest before the season starts and it’s important that the Reds increase the quality available to the head coach.

Nottingham Forest make fresh bid for Dan Ndoye

According to Corriere di Bologna, the Reds are now making a bid of £35 million plus an extra £5 million in the way of add-ons to the Serie A outfit.

Manchester United are in the race, apparently, although the report claims that they’re behind Forest and Napoli in the race to land him.

Ndoye scored nine goals and claimed six assists last season as Bologna earned a place in the Europa League by winning the Coppa Italia.

At 24, the player feels like a very useful replacement for Elanga and the hope will be that Forest can bring him to the club as a matter of urgency.

Forest need to get busy in the transfer market

Signing good players does take a bit of time, but it’s now time for Forest to get busy in the transfer market.

Ndoye feels like a good fit for Forest, and even if the fee is around £35 million, it doesn’t really matter with Forest set to play in Europe next season.

Ndoye was faster than Mbappe at last year’s Euro 2024 competition and that serves to highlight just how dangerous he can be on his day.

With other clubs chasing Ndoye this summer, Forest are wise to make another offer and hopefully, there can be a breakthrough with this one.
