Dan Ndoye looks to be Nottingham Forest’s prime target to replace Anthony Elanga, which is no surprise given how he once outshone Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe.
Forest submitted a bid for Ndoye over the weekend, with the Bologna man now at the top of the list of replacements for Elanga, despite competition from Napoli.
There have been some worries as Ndoye was injured in a Bologna friendly, but the Swiss star has reportedly already said yes to working under Nuno Espírito Santo as negotiations now centre around the fee.
Espírito Santo himself will be praying that the financial side of the deal can be sorted, as Ndoye has already shown he’d be a brilliant Elanga successor when he starred at the 2024 European Championships.

Dan Ndoye outshone Kylian Mbappe at EURO 2024
15 goal contributions for Bologna last season show that Ndoye can affect the game for Forest down the right side, but the question will be whether he can come close to rivalling Elanga’s electric pace.
It’s been suggested that Forest may move away from counterattacking this season, but Ndoye’s speed down the right, which was shown when he was playing for Switzerland at the Euros, may just keep that tactic in Espírito Santo’s mind.
An article by Reuters during the tournament said: “With his startling pace and ability to ride out tackles, unheralded Swiss newcomer Dan Ndoye has put himself on a few radars at Euro 2024.
“[…] With a top speed of 35.6 kph (22.1 mph) he is the third-fastest player at Euro 2024, quicker than France’s Kylian Mbappe, and joins France’s Ousmane Dembele and Belgium’s Jeremy Doku in the top five players with the most dribbles.”
A combination of speed and dribbling ability is exactly what Forest will need to replace Elanga so Forest fans will be hoping to see this Mbappe-like ability at the City Ground this season.
Forest fans will be keen to know how Ndoye’s top speed compares with Elanga’s, with the two wingers producing remarkable numbers.
Dan Ndoye and Anthony Elanga’s top speeds compared
The Swede’s pace was on show throughout the 24/25 season, shown especially when Elanga scored a remarkable solo goal against Manchester United.
However, the Premier League reported that in the 23/24 season, Elanga actually bettered the speed he reached to score that goal.
| Season | Anthony Elanga’s top speed |
| 23/24 (vs Tottenham) | 36.91 kph |
| 24/25 (vs Manchester United) | 36.70 kph |
Elanga ran 0.2 kph faster in the 23/24 season, but both of the figures put him just ahead of Ndoye’s 35.6 kph from the Euros. Ndoye isn’t far off then, but the current favourite if they were to race would be Newcastle United’s new winger.
