Nottingham Forest lost to Fulham in Portugal last night, but it was the new contract for Morgan Gibbs-White that took centre stage among the fan base.
Shortly after the 3-1 defeat, it was announced that Gibbs-White had penned an extension with the City Ground outfit, ending any speculation over a move to Tottenham.
Evangelos Marinakis has shown loyalty to the cause by being obsessed with Gibbs-White signing a new deal and not stopping until the matter was resolved.
Anthony Elanga has signed for Newcastle this summer and losing another key player would have been seriously detrimental to Forest, who have found the transfer market slow going.
Forest can now attack the transfer market, having kept one of their top players and that will surely be a good thing when it comes to trying to add new players to the ranks.

Chris Wood reacts after Morgan Gibbs-White signs new deal
The Forest number 10 will now remain on Trentside until 2028 and that is a massive boost for the Reds fan base, who have been desperate for some good news.
It’s clearly gone down well in the dressing room at the City Ground too, with Gibbs-White proving a very popular figure among the fan base.
After the deal was announced, Chris Wood immediately took to Instagram to hail the decision, posting, ‘And the journey continues. Congrats, partner.”
Wood will be eyeing another 20-goal haul next season and with Gibbs-White remaining at the club, those chances are going to increase considerably.
Forest must now attack the transfer market
It’s brilliant that Forest will have Gibbs-White for their European campaign but Evangelos Marinakis has some more rabbits to pull from hats.
There is no time to waste and after a positive performance from Igor Jesus against Fulham, it’s exciting to see who will be signed this summer.
Forest have let Elanga leave, with Danilo and Ramon Sosa also departing and Jota Silva in concrete talks with Sporting CP ahead of the new season.
Gibbs-White remaining on Trentside needs to be the first piece of positive news and hopefully, a domino effect can now take place with transfers.
