Player who left Nottingham Forest in June now set for surprise transfer

Nottingham Forest will be going in search of a number of new players before the season starts, and it’s time the Reds got busy in the market.

Anthony Elanga has been sold by Forest this summer, with the Swedish international signing for Newcastle in a deal worth around £60 million.

The Forest squad has been seriously depleted, with Danilo and Ramon Sosa also departing the club and Jota Silva wanted by Sporting CP.

Forest are linked with Dan Ndoye, and the winger would provide a plug-and-play alternative to Elanga on the right-hand side of the attack.

Forest have been busy getting players out of the club and now one player who left at the end of last season could be set for a move to a surprise club.

Harry Toffolo set to sign for Charlotte FC

Toffolo could be set to head to the MLS and sign for Dean Smith’s outfit, Charlotte FC in the coming days.

According to journalist Claudio Bonus, Toffolo is in negotiations with the MLS outfit and was actually at their recent game against Toronto FC.

Toffolo left the City Ground at the end of last season after three seasons on Trentside and his goal-line clearance at Tottenham last season will live long in the memory.

It’s perhaps surprising that Toffolo hasn’t managed to get linked up with a new club just yet and it’s somewhat surprising that he’s been overlooked by the EFL.

Rangers were linked with Toffolo shortly before he left Forest but it would appear as though nothing has come to fruition on that front.

Forest fans will wish Toffolo very well

The time was definitely right for Toffolo to head off into the sunset and leave Forest, with the player keen to play more frequent football.

Toffolo always served Forest with distinction, however, not just from a playing sense but also as a model professional who gave his all in every game.

Moving to the MLS is an intriguing one, however, with a host of Championship clubs likely to benefit from bringing in a player of Toffolo’s ability.

Still, playing football is the most important thing for Toffolo and if he can do that over in the United States, then it’s perhaps viewed as an opportunity that he can’t pass up.
