Nottingham Forest have been busy this summer, but not in the way that the supporters might have liked.

Anthony Elanga has been sold to Newcastle, whilst Danilo and Ramon Sosa have also departed the City Ground during the current window.

Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new contract, but for a while it looked like he might depart the club, to hand a further blow to Nuno Espirito Santo.

After reaching the UEFA Conference League last season, it was anticipated that Forest would make an assault on the transfer market, although it’s proved tough this summer.

Forest might not yet be done when it comes to outgoing players, however, with a top talent now being identified by a number of clubs.

Dale Taylor wanted by two EFL clubs

A number of players will likely head out on loan before the transfer window closes, with Forest having a number of youngsters who need more minutes.

Alan Nixon has suggested, via his Patreon, that Plymouth and Blackpool are currently leading the race to sign the academy star.

Taylor played in the first pre-season friendly against Chesterfield but hasn’t gone out to Portugal with the senior ranks and will almost certainly leave.

Both Plymouth and Blackpool operate in League One and it does feel as though Forest would rather he went to the Championship this time instead.

However, both the Pilgrims and the Tangerines will likely chase promotion and that might tempt Forest to let him head to one of those clubs before the season gets underway.

Forest have decision to make over Taylor

Taylor has excelled wherever he’s been on loan. Last year, it was Wigan and the season before that, it was with Burton Albion, making him pretty well-versed when it comes to the third tier.

With Taylor now 21-years-old, it does feel as though his chances of making it at Forest are regressing, with the player clearly good enough to be putting down some roots in the EFL.

Taylor has a glowing reputation within the game, but if Forest can get a little bit of money for his services this summer, it might be worth doing.

Given the vast amount of potential which he possesses, perhaps Forest would be wise to include a buy-back clause or sell-on sum in any negotiations that do take place this summer.
