Nottingham Forest could be edging closer to their latest signing, with things starting to heat up in the transfer market ahead of the big kick-off in the Premier League.

Forest have added Igor Jesus to their ranks this summer, with Jair Cunha and Dan Ndoye also joining from Botafogo and Bologna, respectively.

Forest could still clear the decks this summer, with Jota Silva wanted by Sporting CP and Carlos Miguel linked with a move back to Brazil.

It’s the incoming deals that capture the excitement levels, however, with a new player likely to sign for the club in the coming days.

Douglas Luiz now heads to England amid Forest talks

This could be huge news for Forest, with a new midfielder definitely the order of the day for Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Luiz is now heading to England with his sole focus on signing for Forest before the season begins.

Forest are set to offer a five-year contract on substantial wages to tempt Luiz to sign for the Reds ahead of West Ham and Everton.

Luiz is now due in England for further talks, with Edu set to finally land the midfielder after wanting him twice at Arsenal.

The midfielder played 27 times for Juve last season but has never really been a first-team regular for the Old Lady after a £43 million move from Aston Villa.

Luiz will be class for Forest

At 27, Luiz is in his prime and signing him could be a game-changing addition to the Forest ranks.

With Nicolas Dominguez currently injured, the Reds need a midfielder to be added to the ranks before a ball is kicked this season.

Luiz has bags of Premier League experience, and the hope will be that he can come in and make an immediate impact in the East Midlands.

Jermaine Pennant is a huge fan of Luiz and said he was better than Declan Rice when he was in his pomp at Villa Park.

Espirito Santo would likely give Luiz the chance to play regular games on Trentside and the sooner this deal is done, the better it will be for the Forest engine room.
