Nottingham Forest set to have a new fastest player and it’s not Adama Traoré

Adama Traoré is being heavily linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, but the Spanish speedster isn’t the only potential incoming possessing remarkable pace.

Traoré is keen on reuniting with Nuno Espírito Santo at Forest so there looks to be nothing in the way to prevent the Fulham man from making the switch to the City Ground.

Pace is a significant aspect of the Traoré deal as Espírito Santo wants more impactful options on the bench, with Traoré’s ability to drive at players unmatched in the Premier League.

Further behind Traoré, though, Forest are desperately trying to shore up their options at full-back, with one deal edging closer for a right-back with tremendous speed of his own.

Jackson Tchatchoua possesses Adama Traoré-like pace

To provide cover for Ola Aina, Forest are pursuing Jackson Tchatchoua of Hellas Verona, with reports in Italy suggesting that Forest have submitted a £10m fee.

A specialist full-back is exactly what Forest need so the Tchatchoua deal is one that has gone down positively in the fanbase, who will be even more excited when they learn of the 23-year-old’s remarkable speed.

Last season, Tchatchoua won the Serie A speed award, given to the player who has the highest average speed across the campaign.

In a league that also included new Forest man Dan Ndoye, winning the speed award shows exactly why the Reds would want to bring Tchatchoua to the club, adding dynamism to the attack from deep that Aina couldn’t compete with.

Of course, the Nigerian international will remain the Forest manager’s number one option, but Tchatchoua’s stats from last season do show areas where he can excel over Aina.

Jackson Tchatchoua could offer more going forward than Ola Aina

Tchatchoua provided three assists for Verona last season, two more than Aina managed for Forest but not exactly an indicator that he is an attacking force.

However, digging a little deeper into the Cameroonian’s strengths shows one area he may have over Aina.

Carries into penalty area per 900.510.30

Defensively, Aina is the better option, but in terms of driving a team up the field, Tchatchoua produced more progressive carries per match.

Tchatchoua also delivers marginally more carries into the penalty area than Aina, but at 23 and with his pace, Espírito Santo could turn the new right-back into a completely different option to Aina, one that could allow Forest to play a more attacking brand of football in appropriate games.
