Nottingham Forest have been eyeing a move for Jacob Ramsey this summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest have explored a deal to sign Ramsey after it has become apparent that Aston Villa may need to sell.

Ramsey hasn’t renewed his contract, and so with just two years remaining on his deal, Villa are willing to sanction his sale for around £30m.

That’s alerted a number of suitors, with Champions League outfit Newcastle United keen on landing his signature.

With that said, a fresh report has just emerged about who Ramsey would rather join.

Newcastle United have now entered the race to sign Ramsey, and according to the Athletic, the midfielder prefers a move to the Magpies rather than Forest.

Eddie Howe and his chiefs have already opened talks with the 24-year-old, whilst the likes of West Ham United monitor the situation.

It’s not yet known if Forest are still actively pursuing a deal to sign Ramsey, however, either way, they’re on the back foot.

So it makes sense to move on and explore other targets.

Nottingham Forest more focused on Omari Hutchinson

James McAtee is on the verge of joining Forest and Nuno is already eyeing his next addition, which he hopes will be Omari Hutchinson.

Forest are weighing up another bid for Hutchinson, with their last offer of around £35m rejected by Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys are standing firm in their £40m valuation, so the two clubs certainly aren’t worlds apart from striking a deal.

Hutchinson wants to return to the Premier League, so personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue.
