Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing James McAtee from Manchester City.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Nottingham Forest are ‘confident’ of reaching an agreement to sign McAtee for around £20m.
Forest have been in talks to sign McAtee all summer and have managed to fend off competition from Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
Manchester City fans aren’t happy, though, as they’ve taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their concern at one detail of the transfer.

Man City fans can’t believe the £20m fee for James McAtee
Manchester City supporters are furious at the rumoured £20m fee McAtee is being sold for as they feel he’s worth significantly more than that.
“£20m for McAtee is a joke, genuinely insulting,” @andyymcfc posted.
@mehulg10 added: “City have outdone themselves in less than 24 hours. McAtee for £20M is even worse than Savinho. Can’t be happening, surely.”
“What kind of grand rebuild is this bro? All we’ve done is let our best ever player go & we are getting taken advantage of in every deal. McAtee is not worth £20M & Savinho is not worth £50M They’re world class talents,” @KaunainKha9036 explained.
“It’s happened quietly but £20m for McAtee is awful business,” @MikailAlam93 noted.
What Pep Guardiola has said about James McAtee
Whilst Pep Guardiola is sanctioning McAtee’s sale, it doesn’t for one minute mean he doesn’t rate him and his quality.
Speaking earlier this year, he said: “I am so happy for him, he is a special player. A hat trick is not easy.
“He has an incredible sense in front of goal, he has the right tempo, he changed the rhythm to score and I am very happy for him.”
The 22-year-old starred at the under-21 European Championships and looked every inch of a £40m, so Forest look like they’ve got a real bargain here.
