Nottingham Forest are on the verge of completing their fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest have been confirmed in the Europa League, so Evangelos Marinakis is now ready to sanction a spending spree.

Marinakis was keeping his powder dry until CAS made their decision, but now Forest have a bigger transfer budget at their disposal.

James McAtee is close to joining Forest in a £20m transfer from Manchester City, and now there is another deal out of nowhere which is about to be finalised.

Nottingham Forest close to signing Arnaud Kalimuendo

Nottingham Forest have already signed one striker this window in the shape of Igor Jesus from Brazilian outfit Botafogo.

And now, according to Sacha Tavolieri, they’re about to sign another one, with Stade Rennais frontman Arnaud Kalimuendo set to join.

Tavolieri reports that Forest have agreed a £25m deal to sign the six-cap France international, who scored 18 goals last season.

Brentford were in talks to land Kalimuendo’s signature, but Forest have moved at pace to get a deal done, showing serious ambition.

What Arnaud Kalimuendo’s arrival means for Igor Jesus

Nuno now has a plethora of options up front, with Chris Wood, Igor Jesus, Kalimuendo and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Wood is expected to remain the first-choice number nine, however, it was expected that Jesus would play his fair share of minutes, with four competitions to compete in next season.

But, now that Kalimuendo is about to join, it seems Jesus may even be the third choice to begin with, so he’ll have to impress in the limited minutes he’s afforded.

Kalimuendo can ply his trade off both wings and as a second striker, so perhaps Nuno could look to play with two up top.

Either way, Forest aren’t short of options and are now building a really competitive squad that’s a lot stronger than last season despite Anthony Elanga’s departure.
