Omari Hutchinson watched on from The Peter Taylor Stand as Nottingham Forest thrashed Brentford 3-1 in the opening game of the 2025/26 season.
It was the first time since 2017 that Forest have tasted success on the opening day, with Barrie McKay getting the winner against Millwall on that occasion.
Hutchinson signed for Forest over the weekend in a deal worth £37.5 million from Ipswich Town, with the Reds beating a host of clubs to his signature.
A number of players produced the goods during a first win for Forest this season, but Hutchinson was extremely impressed with one player in particular.

Omari Hutchinson raves about Elliot Anderson after Forest win
Hutchinson knows Anderson after the pair starred for the England under-21s during the European Championships, which the Three Lions won during the summer.
Anderson claimed two assists for Forest during the 3-1 win, taking the corner that led to Wood opening the scoring and then playing a superb ball for the striker’s second.
After the game, Hutchinson posted on his story about Anderson, calling him ‘so good’ after his brilliant exploits against a pretty hapless Brentford team.
Anderson is keen to add more goals and assists to his game and as a result, he’s made a pretty stellar start to the campaign in that sense.
Hutchinson, Anderson and James McAtee could light up the City Ground
Having seen how good England under-21s were in the summer at the European Championship, it’s exciting that three of the star players are now all Forest players.
McAtee and Hutchinson playing in the same team as Anderson should give Forest plenty of flair and guile for this season and also lots of depth.
It’s great to see Forest sticking to their robust recruitment plan of signing players with significant untapped potential and resale value.
Hutchinson didn’t have the best of seasons in the Premier League with Ipswich last term but he shouldn’t be judged solely on that, given that he was playing for a pretty drab team.
Alongside better players he should be absolutely class and it’s now very exciting to see what he can do in this current Forest squad.
